Professor Lothar von Falkenhausen to be featured speaker at UCLA Fowler Museum

Professor Lothar von Falkenhausen will be featured as a special guest at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology Press Author’s Spotlight for his work on “Ritual and Economy in East Asia: Archaeological Perspectives”.

This volume assembles eighteen scholarly essays that explore the intersection between art, economy, and ritual in ancient East Asia. The contributions are clustered into four themes: “Ritual Economy,” “Ritual and Sacrifice,” “Technology, Community, Interaction,” and “Objects and Meaning,” which collectively reflect the theoretical, methodological, and historical questions that Falkenhausen has been examining via his scholarship, research, and teaching throughout his career.

The event will take place at 10am on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in room A322 (Digital Archaeology Lab) of the Fowler Building Basement Level.

All are welcome to attend in-person, or on Zoom by emailing here.
