Professor George Baker to Release New Book on May 20

The release of Professor George Baker’s latest book, co-edited with Annie Rana – Tacita Dean, in the OCTOBER File series – has just been announced on May 20, 2025.

This book contains essays and interviews by Professor Baker (with an introduction by Annie Rana), Douglas Crimp, Brian Dillon, Briony Fer, Hal Foster, Mark Godfrey, Louise Hornby, Rosalind Krauss, Elisabeth Lebovici, Jean-Luc Nancy, Tamara Trodd, Marina Warner, Peter Wollen – and Tacita Dean. For Baker, it was especially touching to include work by writers key to our field but no longer with us – Douglas Crimp, Jean-Luc Nancy, Peter Wollen. There is also a special UCLA focus in the book with his work alongside the work of UCLA English professor Louise Hornby, former UCLA faculty Peter Wollen, and the book’s co-editor Annie Rana who was formerly at the GRI and also formerly a PhD student in the UCLA Department of Art History.
