Donald Preziosi taught at UCLA for two decades as Professor of Art History, during which time he developed programs in critical theory and museum studies. During 2001-2002, he served as Slade Professor of Fine Art at Oxford University, and he held the title of Distinguished Research Professor in the department from 2015-2018.  His publications include Rethinking Art History: Meditations on a Coy Science (Yale, 1989), The Art of Art History (Oxford, 1998), and Art, Religion, Amnesia: The Enchantments of Credulity (Routledge, 2013).
