Congratulations to Professor of African and African American Art History Steven Nelson, who has received a prestigious two-year research fellowship at the Center for the Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) of the National Gallery of Art. Professor Nelson has been named the Andrew W. Mellon Professor for 2018–2020 at CASVA, and will be in residence in Washington, D.C. beginning September 2018.  In a serendipitous turn of events, his doctoral student and Ph.D. candidate Lauren Taylor will also be in DC as CASVA’s Andrew W. Mellon predoctoral fellow for 2017–2019.

An opening reception will be held in honor of Professor Nelson and all other faculty-in-residence by CASVA in October 2018; click here to read more, and join us in congratulating Professor Nelson!
