The UCLA Department of Art History is pleased to present the 2019 UCLA Arts Council Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series featuring Hal Foster, Townsend Martin, Class of 1917, Professor of Art & Archaeology, Princeton University. In this series, Professor Foster examines the rhetorics of art and criticism at moments of emergency in the 20th century, early, middle, and late. Join us as he explores the bathetic (on Dada), the brutal (on postwar anti-aesthetics), and the banal (on Pop and Minimalism) on Thursdays throughout February; admission is free with advance RSVP here.
All lectures take place at 6:00 pm in DeCafe (1302 Perloff Hall); parking is available in UCLA Lot 2 for $3 per hour, or $12 for the entire day. Directions and more parking resources are available on the UCLA Transportation website.
